Biography:

Born in Majdal Shams – Golan, SYRIA 1982.

•           Member of Fateh Moudarres center in Majdal Shams.

•           Graduated from Fine Arts Faculty in Damascus – Damascus 2007.

•           Studying master Second year in Fine Arts Faculty in Damascus.

•           Member of the Syrian Fine Art Union.

•           Work as a teacher in the Fine Arts Faculty in Damascus.

About his Work:

     The characters in Samir Al-Safadi’s paintings are usually in a tormented, isolated state; dominated by sadness and silence.. forced out of an artist’s memory coming from an occupied territory.

Lack of communication between his figures also shows the singularity and loneliness, which helped Al-Safadi express his self in each panel of paintings, making it possible for spectators to feel the situation of grief expressed indirectly.

Although large spaces are applied in his paintings, we do not feel the vacuum. On the contrary we find them expressive and fulfilling the sense of the individual in his artwork.

Presence of mass is obvious in all of his paintings, to make the whole atmosphere of the characters nearer to the viewer.

And in the End, Samir does not like to entitle the situation of each painting, yet he prefers to leave it open for our inner thoughts to decide what feeling we receive out of it; positive intimacy or negative sadness.
